ELIJA Transition Program and Services (TPS)
The mission of the ELIJA TPS is to provide a muiltiyear comprehensive behaviorally based scientifically validated curriculum for individuals with autism. TPS supports individuals throughout their lifespan and focuses on vocational skills, life skills, cognitive and social skills and community integration with the ultimate goal of preparing and supporting individuals to live and work as independently as possible.
ELIJA’s Transition Program and Services is aimed at designing unique customized programming based on an individual’s valued outcomes. We support individuals with autism in local colleges and in competitive employment. We also provide vocational training in the areas of workplace behavior, such as appropriate communication and navigating the social environment at work.
ELIJA TPS provides comprehensive Level I, II, and III vocational assessments to evaluate vocational strengths, areas that need improvement, preferences and special interests. Direction is provided to the individual and his/her family based on the results of the assessment. Vocational assessments can be conducted annually, semi-annually and quarterly. Individuals who are enrolled full time in TPS will benefit from ongoing assessment and re-evaluation.
Provision of Support Staff
ELIJA TPS provides highly trained instructors and support staff in 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 ratios depending on the needs of the individuals.
ELIJA TPS realizes that the end result of vocational assessment and training is job placement and community integration. Upon meeting criteria, (mastery of core competencies) ELIJA staff will facilitate placement by assisting with resume developing, job searching, interview preparation, and communication skills.
ELIJA TPS provides career coaches to prepare and support individuals in their part-time or full-time job placements, in volunteer or paid work experiences. Career coaches will coordinate visits with the individual and the employer.
ELIJA TPS provides didactic and hands on training to employers who wish to learn about how to support individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities in a mainstream work setting.
