ELIJA 2017 Highlights

ELIJA has expanded its impact on the Autism community far beyond the realm of student instruction. ELIJA has hosted the Long Island Behavior Analysis Conference (LIBAC) for the past 6 years. The conference invites all Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) professionals to learn from top talents in the field. ELIJA also conducts workshops and advocacy support groups to continue ongoing education of relevant topics regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). To date, ELIJA has been committed to the quality services and education of our families. From Galas to Golf Outings, and everything in between, we are incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve received over the years. This year, we celebrate and honor all our friends and families whose commitment and generosity have made both this evening and our organization possible.

ELIJA’s Transition Programs & Services (TPS) continues to grow as it focuses on meeting the needs of adolescents and adults with autism. TPS has expanded the opportunities to build transferable skills that will lead to success vocationally, socially, academically, and in all areas related to health, wellness and overall quality of life. With your support, we will continue to grow and develop programs that will help our learner’s live as independently and productively as possible. We are committed to the creation of a transitional and adult program that will help families feel confident and secure that their children will have support over their lifespan.

ELIJA Farm CSA: In 2016 ELIJA launched its first capital campaign aimed at supporting a bold new mission: to create a sustainable future for our transitioning adults with autism. In December 2016, we entered Phase I of this campaign by purchasing 6-acres of a beautiful local farm in South Huntington — The ELIJA Farm. Our campaign continues as ELIJA has established a community supported agriculture (CSA) program, where students and adults with autism will play a daily role in the productivity of the farm. Phase II of the campaign will include acquisition of a second 4-acre parcel, construction of a state-of-the-art greenhouse and conversion of the property’s barn into a classroom and workspace. With the success of both phases, ELIJA’s long term plan is to develop a creative residential option for individuals with autism to live in a safe and supported community.

About the ELIJA Foundation: The ELIJA Foundation is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization serving parents, educators, professionals and caregivers of children with Autistim Spectrum Disorders (ASD) on Long Island, New York. Since 2002, The ELIJA Foundation has provided the community with educational opportunities that focus on improving the quality of programs and services available to children with Autism. In 2006, The ELIJA School opened its doors to extend the mission of the Foundation and start helping children with Autism. The Foundation’s focus is to empower families and improve the competency level of professionals by providing training on the most advanced treatment and educational strategies that maximize the potential of those affected by Autism. The Foundation hosts workshops that give the community access to local and nationally recognized Autism professionals who present topics which will allow those with Autism to more fully participate in their families, communities and educational settings. The ELIJA Foundation is committed to offering the most comprehensive information that is geared toward improving the lives of persons with Autism and their families.
